Our Impact
The Carter Family Hero Scholarship Fund
started in 2023!
Our goal is to help the children of First Responders in Taney County or a Taney County High School Senior wishing to pursue a career in criminal justice, fire sciences, or emergency medical services.
The Carter Family Hero Scholarship Fund has been created to help ease the burden of post-secondary education for the children of Taney County First Responders. The scholarship is also available to Taney County Missouri High School students that plan to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice, Fire Sciences or Emergency Medical Services. Darin Carter was a Taney County Deputy Sheriff who was shot in the line of duty on September 16, 2016. The Carter family wanted to help give back to other Taney County families from a first responder background or to students with an interest in the first responder career fields.
Our logo is that of a Spartan Warrior within the red, white, and blue flame. The Spartans have been long thought of as having courage, honor, and resilience. We believe that our modern-day fire, police, and EMS have those same warrior qualities. The red flame is for Firemen, The white is for our EMS personnel and the blue is for our law enforcement officers. They are patriotic warriors that walk the frontlines in our communities.
Thank you for your interest in our scholarship fund,
The Carter Family

Darin Carter and Family
Why We Do it
Darin Carter is a former Taney County Deputy Sheriff who was injured in the line of duty in 2016 and retired medically in 2018. He and his family have started a scholarship fund to help families with similar conditions as well as students that are pursuing a career in the area of first responders.
The Carter Family Hero Scholarship can help in a couple of different ways. One is to be the child of a Taney County First Responder that has been killed or injured in the line of duty. The second is to be a Taney County High School Senior wishing to pursue a career in criminal justice, fire sciences, or emergency medical services.
Darin Carter had the idea for the scholarship when he received help from the another organization that he is also involved in that gives financial support in case of serious injury or death.
